An erosion-threatened home at Hemsby and part of another have been saved from demolition after their owners moved them further inland.

The homes on The Marrams, one of them owned by former soldier Lance Martin and one where the only remaining part was the porch, were spared by Great Yarmouth Borough Council as they had been moved and did not face imminent danger.

Following last Sunday’s bad weather five clifftops homes had been pulled by the council’s contractor, Anglian Demolition and Asbestos Ltd, Carl Smith, deputy leader of the council, said: “I would again like to express our sympathies to those affected at Hemsby and to praise the staff from Great Yarmouth Borough Council and our partners, as well as the Hemsby Lifeboat volunteers, for their professionalism in responding to the emergency, protecting public safety and supporting the residents during a difficult time.”
