MARTHAM Brownies held a sponsored water carry to raise funds for a family in Uganda.

Armed with buckets the group took it in turns to carry 70 litres of water, the amount an average family uses in one day, around the green in relay fashion.

The girls had great fun sloshing the water from one bucket to the next and were supported by parents and friends with PSCO Meri Blunsden on hand to help out.

The sponsorship money raised, and a collection made on the evening, will buy a water tank for a Ugandan family.

Built by Tools With a Mission, the tanks cost £158 and harvest rainwater from the roof providing a family between 50 and 80 litres a day of uncontaminated water.

The Brownies are attending a service at St Mary's Church on Sunday, May 18 to tell the congregation about the event.
