The National Museum for Strange Objects has been called in to investigate the appearance of a large nest and giant egg in the playground of a Gorleston school.
Suspicions were alerted when sticks and straw were found scattered in the playground, and led to a large nest.
And last week children and staff of Wroughton Infant School, were stunned to see a giant egg in the nest – put there sometime between 10am and 11am on Wednesday.
As the mystery deepened youngsters began researching animals which hatch from eggs in order to work out where it may have come from – and who might have left it in the nest.
They visited Thrigby Hall Wildlife Park on Friday but as helpful as the staff were, they were unable to identify the egg. And a team of police officers visited to check out the site. The area was taped off and baffled officers recommended the school keep the area secure in order to protect the egg.
Following the police report, the school was contacted by the National Museum for Strange Objects.
Their experts are keen to visit the school and hope to be able to identify the egg.
