THE mayor and mayoress were among the audience at a sparkling performance of Aladdin at North Denes Middle School last week. And for mayor Cllr Terry Easter - a former governor - it was extra special as his granddaughter was in the performance.

The show, this year's Christmas production, involved the children at every stage, from designing and making the sets to selling tickets and welcoming the audience. A matinee performance of the pantomime was followed the next day by an evening event and both were well attended by parents, family members and friends of North Denes pupils.

Aladdin was played by Bradley Baker who gave the performance of his life. The whole cast put everything they had into the performance and the actors, dancers, narrators and backstage support provided great entertainment for the appreciative audience.

Proceeds from the sale of the tickets will go towards school funds.
