The Palace Cinema on the High Street in Gorleston, dated 1950s. Plate P4494
The man in the picture with his barrow is John Samuel Bush, described as a costermonger in the High Street, and captured on film by the Mercury photographer in the 1960s.
The pictures show Gorleston High Street and one (C4836) is dated January 27 but no year. Anyone hazard a guess?
Another features ex grocery shop, Bussey’s which closed in 1967 and the shop was demolished in 1968. Bussey’s relocated to Baker Street.
There is also a picture of the Coliseum Cinema during demolition to be replaced by shops on the High Street, in 1970.
