A nursing home is opening a memory cafe which will offer people with dementia, their carers, family and friends a place to socialise in a friendly and relaxed environment.

The Memory Lane cafe will be launching in Ritson Lodge Nursing Home in Hopton on Friday, March 2 between 2.30pm and 4pm.

It will then be will be open every other Friday.

For the launch Ann Chapman, a Dementia champion, will be carrying out a presentation helping people to understand and increase their knowledge of dementia.

A spokesman for the home said: “People with dementia, their carer’s, family and friends are welcome to come and chat to people who have been affected by dementia in a friendly and relaxed, social environment at our Memory Lane café. “You can chat and share your experiences about your diagnosis of dementia and what that means to you with others.” There will be refreshments and activities.
