A councillor has received a ticking off for failing to show other people respect and been told to apologise for his behaviour.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council has published a report from its standards committee concerning Michael Jeal of the Nelson Ward.
The report said Mr Jeal had breached the code of conduct, which demands councillors always treat people with respect, including the organisations and public they engage with and work alongside.
Although just published, the report relates to a meeting of the standards committee in April last year.
The meeting heard Mr Jeal’s behaviour was at the lower end of seriousness in terms of failing to show others respect. Mr Jeal declined to explain his position to the committee but thanked them for their kind consideration of the matter.
The committee requested Mr Jeal write a letter of apology to the person affected and recommended he attended codes of conduct training.
