A MODEL has been inspired by her seriously ill daughter to swap the photo studio for the gym to take part in a run for charity.

Gorleston mum Suellen Smith decided to organise the run after toddler daughter Ashantai was diagnosed with Wilms' tumour, the childhood form of kidney cancer last year.

Ashantai, who is two this month, has had a kidney removed and is undergoing treatment at James Paget University Hospital and Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridgeshire.

The fun run is planned to taking place in August along Great Yarmouth seafront to raise cash for Cancer Research UK.

Several of Suellen's friends and partner Abdulai are taking part in the run which it is hoped will raise hundreds of pounds.

Suellen said: “I am not used to running, but have a treadmill at home to get into training and if other people just want join in an walk they can.

“Ashantai had a kidney removed last October and we are waiting to find out if the other one will need to be transplanted, but there is no sign the cancer has spread yet so that is good news.

“She is doing really well, coping better with the chemotherapy and has more appetite, but of course still gets sick and tired.”

Suellen, 31, is also hoping to find a printer for a calendar featuring photos of her model friends to raise more cash for charity.

Kerri Parker, who runs a Norwich based model academy, is among the girls posing for the calendar, which is being shot by professional photographer Stephen Hyde.

Anyone able to produce the calendar can contact Suellen on 07810515466. Visit www.justgiving.com/suellensmith to sponsor the run.
