A GOVERNMENT strategy to make Great Yarmouth flourish all year round through a 200,000 job creation scheme was announced yesterday.
The launch of the Strategy for Seaside Success; securing the future of seaside economies will also see other coastal communities in the region benefit all year round from a change in seaside accommodation rules, funding for pier restoration and powers to bring unused properties and land into use.
But as communities secretary John Denham unveiled his party's new policy he was accused of stealing Conservative plans to reinvigorate resorts which were launched three months ago.
The new government policy will see Yarmouth Borough Council receive 200,000 from a 5m national fund to be distributed among 25 priority areas to create jobs, especially for the long term unemployed.
And nationally the strategy will see new licensing rules for houses of multiple occupation to help tackle problems about low quality housing and tougher measures on caravan site licenses being granted.
