MONEY was on the menu at a Scratby restaurant after diners and donations raised £2,900 for a volunteer lifesaving service.

MONEY was on the menu at a Scratby restaurant after diners and donations raised £2,900 for a volunteer lifesaving service.

The three-course meal at Moments earlier this year raised enough to fully equip an additional first responder whose roving role is helping heart attack victims borough-wide.

First responder and firefighter Darryl Brennand, from Ormesby, said he was delighted with the total and new volunteers were going through the application thanks to the publicity.

Proceeds from the meal were boosted by local companies who donated ingredients.

First repsonders are volunteers who provide back-up to the ambulance service and paramedics. They go anywhere within an eight-minute response time using defibrillators to resuscitate heart attack victims or simply chatting to panicking patients before the ambulance arrives.

To find out about becoming a first responder contact the East Anglian Ambulance headquarters on 01284 731802.
