WITH Great Yarmouth earmarked for a large casino, the town's prospective Conservative Parliamentary candidate has called for more to done to deal with gambling addiction.

Brandon Lewis met with the party's Shadow Minster for Tourism, Tobias Ellwood to discuss social problems associated with the gaming industry.

Currently gambling addicts can exclude themselves from casinos and online betting sites by making operators aware of their addiction and download site blockers.

Mr Lewis said: “The self exclusion system is cumbersome and difficult for those wishing to use it and in Yarmouth we have a empowering communities team who want to make the system simpler and find a way to help those who need help.

“The casino business in Yarmouth creates jobs and entertainment and this has been a chance for me to talk to our team about some of the issues and what we can do to help people who are working hard to help themselves with their own addictions.”
