The slippery driving conditions prompted Norfolk police to issue a “take care out there” warning, reminding people how best to stay safe and urging them not to take risks. Freezing temperatures and occasional hail combined to make it fairly miserable for those who did have to venture out, but the advice - as ever - was to stay put if possible.

John Law, forecaster with University of East Anglia-based WeatherQuest said yesterday and today were likely to be dry and predicted a snow-free weekend. However he added that it would remain fairly cold, with daytime temperatures probably only creeping up to four degrees.
