YARMOUTH MP Brandon Lewis will be putting his best foot forward in aid of the Palliative Care East appeal at the James Paget University Hospital.

The politician will be taking part in the Olympic Distance Triathlon in London on August 8.

To complete the gruelling challenge at the ExCEL centre, Mr Lewis will have to do a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run and he has set up a web blog with updates on his punishing training regime at www.brandonlewis.org/blog_british_triathlon.php.

He has also set up a fundraising page on the website justgiving.com, which can be viewed at www.justgiving.com/BrandonLewisMP

On his fundraising page, he said: “I will be taking part in the Olympic Distance Triathlon in London and as I will be suffering to do this it seemed only fair that my pain has a wider benefit and I hope you will be able to help me raise money for this much- needed cause and facility in Great Yarmouth.”

Further fundraising events in aid of the appeal, include:

On February 25, the Rotary Club of Great Yarmouth will be holding a third charity quiz at Yarmouth Town Hall.

On March 4, it’s the turn of the Roller Coasters and the Waveney Singers, starring Rod Clarke from the Rocking Berries. Tickets £10.

On March 12, a Sixties night with buffet will be held at Burgh Hall.

On March 19, there will be a March Ball at the Ocean Room in Gorleston with an Abba tribute band and Lowestoft Rotary Groups.
