Mums are being invited to come together for a special celebration of breastfeeding in Gorleston.
The event is part of an international week-long campaign which aims to promote the benefits of breastfeeding.
World Breastfeeding Week is organised by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action, taking place annually in 120 countries.
As part of the celebrations, the Big Latch On will see communities across the globe participate in a synchronised breastfeeding event.
This year it is hoped the current record of 17,992 children breastfeeding at 758 locations, across 23 countries, will be beaten.
Mums are being encouraged to play their part in the record attempt by going along to the Big Latch On event at Seagull’s Children’s Centre in Gorleston.
James Paget infant feeding specialist, midwife Curita Reilly, said the event represented an opportunity for mums to meet with others in a similar position and share their experiences - as does the hospital’s breastfeeding peer support group, which is run by mothers.
She said: “We work with new mums to help and encourage them to breastfeed, although we are conscious it has to be a decision for each individual.
“We aim to explain and advise about the recognised health benefits for both mum and baby but also provide the practical support to overcome difficulties faced during those first few days and weeks.
“Support from other mums can be important, which comes from both our breastfeeding peer support group and the opportunity to meet others who may be experiencing the same sort of issues and feelings.
“The Big Latch On gives you the opportunity to talk with other women and join in this global event and we’d like to invite anyone who is breastfeeding to come along.”
The Big Latch On event will take place at Seagulls Children’s Centre in Magdalen Way, Gorleston, on Saturday, August 4, at 10.30am.
Any mums who are breastfeeding are invited to take part and meet other mums.

World Breastfeeding Week runs from August 1-7 and marks the signing of the World Health Organisation/UNICEF Innocenti Declaration, which promotes the benefits of breastfeeding.
