A headstone in a Caister cemetery which remained buried underground for over a century has been found during maintenance work.
A workman found what he thought was a lump of buried concrete.
However, upon closer inspection, he saw it was a perfectly preserved headstone, with the original paint still intact. The inscription reads: “William, the beloved of Eliza Boatwright, who died July 2nd 1896, aged 60.”
