Archant

This is the moment drivers were forced to swerve to avoid wheelie bins falling from a lorry on the A47 last week.

The motorists were driving between Lowestoft and Hopton on Monday October 1 when two wheelie bins fell from the back of a lorry in front of them.

The near-miss occurred at around 11am on the road, which has a 60mph speed limit.

Dashcam footage captured by a driver in the right-hand lane behind the lorry appears to show the bins falling after the top of the stack clipped a tree overhanging the road.

The driver, along with a Mini in the left-hand lane, were forced to swerve to avoid the bins, with one falling in each lane causing an obstacle.

The lorry driver and a passenger, both in high visibility jackets, were seen getting out of the lorry seconds later.

Norfolk and Suffolk Police confirmed the incident had not been reported to either constabulary.
