Two lay members have been appointed to the governing body of NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Cedric Burton has been reappointed for a further three years, after joining in 2015, and Trevor Saunders has replaced Robert Temple.

The role of the pair is to provide an independent view of the CCG’s work and make sure that patients’ voices are heard.

Mr Burton was a soldier for 34 years serving on operational deployments and in equipment acquisition, research, strategy development and organisational change.

Mr Saunders has extensive experience in the voluntary sector, working with parish councils, youth clubs, Active Norfolk, Great Yarmouth Dementia Action Alliance and as vice chair of Great Yarmouth Older People’s Network.

Dr Liam Stevens, interim CCG chair, said: “They bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience which will bring huge benefits to our patients and we look forward to working closely with them.”
