CHEFS and caterers interested in developing their skills and careers with a new qualification are invited to an information event in Great Yarmouth College’s new 500,000 training kitchens later this month.

The college is to launch a new VRQ3 diploma in professional cookery in September.

The one-year full-time course is aimed at people committed to a career in catering either working as chefs now or just completing a level 2 course.

The assignment-based course will be run by Lester Tubby, who has taught at the college for nearly 30 years passing on his tips of the trade and expertise to generations of chefs now working in the best kitchens all over the world.

He learned his trade as a student at the college in the late 1960s before going on to work in hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, casinos and hospitals all over Britain.

An information event to find out about the course, tour the facilities of the new training kitchens and meet Lester will be held on July 19 between 5pm and 7pm.
