STUDENTS on Great Yarmouth College's new dance award programme are using the national curiosity for crime scene investigations as inspiration for an innovative dance show next month.

“Wrapped” is a contemporary dance show to be staged in the college's new 110-seat theatre in the new studios in the School of Performing Arts and Creative Technologies.

Its content is based on programmes featuring forensic investigation like CSI Las Vegas and New York.

Tutor Georgie Barnes, herself a former performing arts student at the college, said the emphasis of the show was on pure dance with a minimal set.

“It will be a very different show. The students this year have been very interested in contemporary dance and have looked at a wide range and we've put together a very exciting and challenging show.”

The show - involving eight first and second years - is aimed at adults and teenagers interested in dance courses at the college, including the new A level in dance.

The dance award was relaunched last year to run alongside the BTEC National Diploma in performing arts to give students an extra qualification and specialism on top of their vocational qualification.

The technical award for stage management and lighting was also relaunched and those students, with tutor Nick Ball, will manage the lighting for the show,

Wrapped will be staged on Wednesday May 12 and Thursday May 13 at 7.30pm.

Some of its content mean it is not suitable for anyone under 14.

Tickets are 5 for adults and 3.50 concessions
