A UNIQUE forum combining a wide range of business and industry sectors has been set up at Great Yarmouth College to ensure that the training opportunities are available to fill skills gaps in the borough.

Fourteen individuals representing energy, tourism, business, retail and enterprise are working together as the Innovation and Enterprise Advisory Committee.

The committee, brainchild of Anu Babu, Head of the School for Innovation and Enterprise, has a strategic brief to pool ideas and project forward how best to address future and current skill gaps.

At the inaugural meeting, the committee formed from The East of England Energy Group (EEEGR), Business Link, the Tourist Authority, the Chamber of Commerce and local entrepreneurs with college executives and governors, discussed objectives that would help achieve the strategic aim.

Mrs Babu said bringing the sectors together was exciting, offering new ideas on how to investigate and meet skill requirements across different industries for employees in the future.
