A NEW interim chief executive has been appointed to NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney for the next few months.

Dr Paul Zollinger-Read, who is the chief executive of NHS North East Essex, started in general practice in 1991 and in 1999 joined the National Patients Action Team and became the NHS Modernisation Agency's Director of Demand Management.

His other appointments have included chief executive of Witham, Braintree and Halstead Care Trust and Chelmsford PCT.

David Edwards, chair of NHS Yarmouth and Waveney, said: “I am delighted that Paul will be joining us tomorrow. To have the benefit of his skill and experience provides us with new opportunities in addition to ensuring continuity and stability.”

Dr Zollinger-Read's appointment follows former chief executive Michael Stonard's decision to step down from the role earlier this week.
