A SECRETARY is on the path to fame and fortune after winning this year's Miss Norfolk competition.

Louise Daynes, 19, from Spixworth has been crowned with the title in the Kerri Parker Academy competition, and will now take part in the Miss Great Britain competition in November.

Miss Daynes, who has featured in FHM and works for Max Power as a Grid Girl, said she didn't expect to win at all and “blubbed like a baby” when the result was announced on Thursday.

She said: “It was overwhelming. I had such a wonderful day. Most of the girls arrived at about midday and it was quite jam-packed because everyone needed to have a run through and get on the stage.

“The first round was the club wear round, which I was absolutely dreading, because you had to go on stage and do a dance move - whatever you felt comfortable with. I can't dance to save my life, and I was really panicking, so I just went on and did a little wiggle and smiled and quickly went off stage. I thought I'd got off to a bad start.

“Then we had five minutes to get ready for the swimwear round, and I've never seen so many clothes flying around a room so fast!

“That round went okay, and then we had half an hour to get ready for the eveningwear round, and I had my hair changed to an up-do, which was lovely. I was so nervous then because you have to speak in that round, and I was shaking and sweating and all my makeup was running.

“They asked me about my job, and I told them what I did and then ended it with 'I type all the letters', and they all laughed, so I thought I'd definitely be out - there was so much competition.

“I cried loads when I made it into the final five, I really didn't expect to win at all.”

Second place was awarded to Emma Elphick, from Dereham, and Danielle Sheehan, 18, from Diss, came third.
