A nurse at a hospital in Gorleston has enjoyed a day out at Wimbledon as part of a celebratory draw marking the 70th birthday of the NHS.

Kevin Barnard works as an ADHD nurse specialist at the James Paget University Hospital (JPUH) and was one of 35 individuals picked from thousands in the draw.

Mr Barnard works in the hospital’s paediatric outreach children’s community nursing team and won a pair of tickets for the institution’s birthday, July 5 - taking his wife as his plus one.

Mr Barnard only found out he had won the week prior, but made the most of the opportunity by staying from 10.30am until 7.30pm.

He said: “It was lovely to represent the NHS on its birthday and fulfil my dream of visiting Wimbledon in the same day. We were very excited and it was great to have an NHS badge as people commented on how we deserved to be there. I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys tennis - it was a really good day.”
