No w-eighting around for baby Kezia!

Early bird baby Kezia James put the eight into weight when she popped into the world in a rush last Friday.

For the new addition's birth on the eighth day of the eighth month 2008 was made even more remarkable when the tot tipped the scales at 8lbs 8oz - astounding her parents Lyndsey and Lee James, of Lacon Road, Caister.

Mrs James, 23, said she was planning a quiet birth at home and that Kezia was not due until August 10. Instead she gave birth in a panic on the landing quickly and without pain relief after a day of manageable labour suddenly escalated.

Doting dad Lee, 26, is a self employed bricklayer but was poised to take control and bring his second daughter in to the world with labour ward staff on the end of the telephone talking him through the delivery.

In the end however the midwife and ambulance turned up to take over and Kezia was born at 6.10pm.

Mrs James said the baby had started to make her move at around 10.30am with contractions about seven minutes apart.

“My husband came home from work and by 5pm they were three minutes apart. We phoned the hospital and by the time the midwife had phoned back and said she would be 15 minutes my waters had broken. Everyone showed up just in time. Considering it was a planned home birth nothing went to plan.

“When my water's broke I just laid down on the first place I found - which was on the landing.

“We wont forget her birthday or her weight being all eights, or how she got here.” By 9pm that evening the family were home alone, settling into the rhythm of being a family of four.

Big sister Abbie who is three next month and weighed 7lbs 7oz at birth, chose the name Kezia after her parents first heard it on The Bill, and is delighted with the new addition to the family.
