With two of the fastest riders in the region teaming up to ride the Great Yarmouth CC 25-mile course as a pair it was no surprise that their time of 52:59 was a course record.

DAP CC pair Mark Richards and Harley Matthews both live nearby and know well these pine-shaded Lothingland roads and, most importantly, the tight corners of the course.

Conditions, at least for the early starters, were cold and solo winner Mark Arnold, now riding for the East Anglian Vets, was over two minutes off his previous best for the course. However, his 57:41 was well clear of second-placed John Bradbury (CC Sudbury).

Top lady was Denise Hurren (Sole Bay, 1:03:57) while best from the promoting club was Jonny Hawes (1:01:57).

Though the skies were gloriously clear, it was also chilly for the CC Breckland evening 10 on the Attleborough-Snetterton and back course.

A north wind meant the longer return leg was the headwind one. Nevertheless, Matthew Senter (VeloVelocity) won in 19:52 ahead of Matthews (20:15) and Richards (20:32), while Becky Murley (Wisbech Whs) was first lady in 23:00.

In round three of the Lotus Series, Polly Mason (Strada Sport) took a seven-second win over Cindy Berry in the women's race.

Among the men, Thomas Heal (Strada) and Mark Richards, opened a six-second gap on the bunch. The sprint for third was won by Josh Andrews (DAP CC) from Taverham rider Jack Bracey (Strada).

Seb Herrod (Strada) returned to the scene of his CC London Road Race win – the Wendens Ambo circuit near Saffron Walden.

This time it was the London Phoenix CC road race and Herrod took second place behind winner Steven Griffiths in a big bunch sprint. Just squeezing into the top 10 was Andrew Taylor of VC Norwich.

Riders in the Boudicca Rides based at Snetterton enjoyed a choice of 40, 70 or 100 miles distances heading north west towards the North Norfolk Coast.

Also heading to the Norfolk Coast was the 206-kilometre Norfolk Special ride, which started from cloudy Lowestoft and turned at a much brighter Stiffkey.
