Police are hunting for a man who posed as a water engineer and stole a handbag, wallet and purse from a home in a Norfolk Broads village.

The distraction burglar went to the home in Main Road in Filby between 11.30am and 12.10am on Tuesday, April 17 claiming he needed to check the house due to a burst water pipe in the area.

He asked the occupants to run the taps and check the utilities were working before leaving the address. A short time later it was discovered a handbag, wallet and purse were missing.

The suspect is white, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, 5ft 10, well built with broad shoulders, with mousy coloured hair and wearing a high-vis orange jacket.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area between the times stated to contact them.

Anyone with information should contact Det Con Mark Randall at Great Yarmouth CID on 101.
