YOUNG eco-warriors at a Great Yarmouth school have been fighting the impact of global warming. A group of year 7 pupils at North Denes Middle have used a thermal imaging camera to identify inefficient energy use at the school.
YOUNG eco-warriors at a Great Yarmouth school have been fighting the impact of global warming. A group of year 7 pupils at North Denes Middle have used a thermal imaging camera to identify inefficient energy use at the school.
Their work has been supported by Amec, who sponsored a competition in the school. Pupils were challenged to produce a leaflet or poster aimed at encouraging Amec employees to cut down on their CO2 emissions. Prize winners were Sophie Saxton, Demi Joy, Sebastian Minas and Francesca Sewell.
As well as working with the local community on climate change, the school is aiming to reduce its own global footprint and has already managed to encourage more pupils to walk or cycle to school with a 10 pc reduction in the number of cars journeys.
