A Primary school in Great Yarmouth has raised almost £300 to go towards a community defibrillator.
North Denes Primary School on Jellicoe Road raised the money from their cake sale on Friday. The cakes were baked by staff and children with some being donated to them from Tesco in Yarmouth.
It is hoped that the defibrillator will be accessible to both the public and the school.
The importance of the life saving piece of kit was highlighted when one of the students collapsed unconscious at home the day before school.
Thankfully both her parents were trained in first aid so they were able to save their daughter.
Community champion at Tesco in Great Yarmouth, Samantha Wright, said: “This incident made me think what would have happened if this had have happened at school.
“The mother approached the school to ask about a getting a defibrillator but the school didn’t have enough funding.”
The school needs to raise £450 and then have an electrician fit it for them.
