Youngsters have been given an insight into the life of a firefighter after the Great Yarmouth Red Watch visited their school.
The Year 2 pupils at Northgate Primary School in Great Yarmouth met fire officers came and spoke to the children about the Great Fire of London in 1666, which they had been learning about in history.
The children asked lots of questions including: Why do you have an axe and why do you have such long ladders?
The fire officers explained about all of the different items of protective clothing they wear and the variety of equipment they carry.
They also found out what to do in the event of a fire.
Pupils learnt about the importance of knowing their address, how to ring 999, what to do if a fire alarm goes off and if someone’s clothes caught fire they should ‘stop, drop and roll.”
A teacher said some children were so inspired they would like to become a firefighter in the future.
