THE Police are sending out a stark warning to anyone involved in football related violence or disorder.

The force has succeeded in obtaining two banning orders against people arrested at recent Norwich City FC matches, preventing them from attending matches for three years.

Norwich Magistrates imposed the banning orders on one male who was arrested for being drunk entering a “Designated Sports Ground” at the NCFC v Queens Park Rangers; and another male who was arrested for assaulting another supporter in the Upper Barclay at the NCFC V Derby County fixture.

Superintendent Jim Smerdon said: “This sends out a strong message that football related disorder will not be tolerated and those arrested for such offences will be dealt with robustly.

“Those individuals that persist in causing trouble at football matches and sporting events could also find themselves banned from attending any further matches for a significant period of time. We are pleased that the Magistrates recognise the seriousness of this type of offence and have banned those individuals.

“We will continue to work to make sure that the public continue to have a safe and enjoyable time at our local sporting venues.”
