CARNIVAL organisers were thrilled as thousands of people lined the streets of Caister to support this year's big procession.
Bill Fortescue, a member of organisers Norfolk Broads Lions Club, said there were 20 more floats parading through the village and an extra 50 stalls compared with last year.
He added: “The figure was much better than last year, and indeed previous years, because people did turn out this year and the number of stalls was up on last time.
“I believe this was due
to the better weather conditions we had.”
Among the stranger visitors were Doctor Who's old foes, the Daleks, along with other intergalactic guests.
There were also appearances from the Endeavour Rangers marching band from Gorleston, the Cliffside Royalettes baton-twirling team from Great Yarmouth and the Wroxham Agility Group, which teaches dogs agility skills.
Some of the past was also on show courtesy of a visit by old double-decker buses that used to run routes in Yarmouth borough. Caister lifeboat crew also attended.
The procession ended at a fete on King George V playing field opened by borough mayor Terry Easter. There were children's rides, a funfair and stalls.
The fun-filled event ended with a teatime barbecue.
