A NORFOLK man's campaign to bring Channel 4's Pop Beach back to Great Yarmouth is growing, with more than 8,000 signatures on a dedicated petition website.

James Stubbins, 22, an administration assistant from Thetford, said that he has fond memories of when the shows took place in Yarmouth.

And he says he feels so passionate about bringing Pop Beach - now known as T4 On The Beach - back to this area, that he opened the page on Facebook last year in an effort to persuade organisers to move it from Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset.

So far, he says he has not been disappointed with the number of people who have signed up to the campaign's website.

The event was last seen in Yarmouth in 2004 but was then moved to the Somerset resort.

He said: “I saw the shows which featured Big Brovaz, Blazin' Squad, Girls Aloud, Emma Bunton and many more superb acts. The website is trying to get as much interest as possible from people who want to see the show return to Yarmouth.

“We never wanted the show to leave in the first place and now I'd like to see it come back.”

James said once there was enough interest, he intends contacting T4 and letting them know there is a demand from this region. He added organisers are already aware of the website.
