Ever wanted to know what happens behind the scenes in a busy hospital pharmacy?

Now there is a chance to find out by attending the James Paget University Hospital pharmacy open evening on Wednesday, July 25.

The event from 7pm to 9pm in the department at the Gorleston hospital will give people the opportunity to see the pharmacy robot in action, find out more about how services help patients, chat to staff about careers in pharmacy and meet the chief pharmacist.

Attendees can find how medications are arranged and supplied to patients and how the team work to prepare take home medicines for patients who are being discharged.

On an average day the department will supply around 700 prescriptions and other medical preparations including chemotherapy injections and liquid food that goes directly into the blood stream.

People can also learn more about jobs in the department.

Anyone interested in attending can email lucy.coull@jpaget.nhs.uk or hannah.wicks@jpaget.nhs.uk for more information.
