THE completion of a 4.7m upgrade to the sewer system in the Northgate Street area of Great Yarmouth will be marked on Monday.
Yarmouth MP Tony Wright will join Anglian Water bosses and local residents for the official opening ceremony.
A new pumping station, 850-cubic metre underground storage tank and a new kilometre-long sewer are now operational.
The new sewer runs from the junction with Ormond Road, up Northgate Street and discharges into the new storage tank underneath the Northgate St Andrew's School car park. The sewer then continues up Northgate Street, across Lawn Avenue to Tar Works Road, where it discharges into our existing pumping station.
The work followed severe flooding on Northgate Street three years ago that forced a number of residents from their homes for several months.
