A MAN who violently struggled with police when they attended a domestic incident involving him and his former partner was jailed yesterday.
Dean Powell, 40, was in breach of a non-molestation order involving his former partner Lorraine Toovey when police were called to the incident in Gorleston, Norwich Crown Court heard.
Chris Youell, prosecuting, said Powell kept swearing and being aggressive to officers even after they handcuffed him.
Powell later again breached the order by calling at Ms Toovey's address and sending her text messages and making telephone calls to her.
Powell, of Magnolia Green, Gorleston, admitted resisting arrest and being in breach of a non-molestation order.
Jailing him for a total of nine months, Judge Peter Jacobs said police in these difficult situations were “in an impossible position,” adding: “They try to protect people like the complainant and find they are themselves the butt of violent behaviour by people like yourself.”
