Years 3 and 4 at Ormesby Village Junior School had a visit last week, in connection with their topic this term on Romans. Carys Edwards and Tamzin Freeman (3/4TR) have written the following account: “On Tuesday we had a Roman Day and a company called Legion XIII came in to school. We learned lots about the Romans and Britons. For example we learned that very poor people lived in a flat the size of a big table and they had to wee in a pot and then chuck it out through the window. Britons wore war paint and checked trousers. The Ladies wore red lipstick which was made out of cochineal (beetle juice). Rich Romans ate disgusting food like stuffed dormice. There were around 28 Legions in the Roman Army. Thank you to Legion XIII and the teachers that organised the event.”
