A seven year old hailed his FA Cup Final appearance as an “awesome” experience.

Luke Wacey, 7, walked onto the pitch with Crystal Palace defender Damien Delaney, ahead of the team’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Football mad Luke, who is a Norwich City fan and plays for his local team in Ormesby, was lucky enough to win a competition to be a matchday mascot his dad entered him in at the Game and Country Fair at the Norfolk Showground last month.

Scott Wacey, Luke’s Dad, said: “It has been an absolutely amazing time for Luke. He has been very busy since the game, showing off his kit and memorabilia and telling everyone about his time walking a player onto the pitch ahead of one of the year’s biggest games at Wembley Stadium.”

On Saturday, May 21, he walked onto the pitch in front of more than 88,000 fans at the stadium, and appeared on television in front of millions of viewers at home.

And despite the fact he was donned out in the colours of Crystal Palace rather than his beloved Norwich, it did not hamper his enthusiasm for the weekend, as he had seen Palace play Norwich at Carrow Road in the Premier League.
