Over the past year a number of local churchgoers from Gorleston have trained as street pastors to assist the police and other emergency services in Norwich's nightclub area at the weekends. It is hoped this can be extended to Yarmouth.
The pastors will be wearing their distinctive uniforms to help direct the Good Friday march.
Marchers should meet at the Bethel Church on Pier Walk at 10am before moving out to the riverside car park near the lifeboat shed where the procession, led by a large cross, will begin at around 10.30am. It will follow Pier Plain and Baker Street to Feathers Plain, where a brief service will be held. The march will continue up Church Lane to the Magdalen Arms area for a further stop. It will then go along Magdalen Way to the Magdalen Methodist Church where a united service is being held at midday.
Tomorrow Churches Together will be handing out free hot cross buns to shoppers in Gorleston High Street from 10am. And on Sunday Cliff Park Community Church takes its celebrations outdoors to Gorleston bandstand, where a service featuring puppets starts at 10.30am. If the weather is poor it will be switched to the Pavilion Theatre.
