POLICE have stepped up patrols in North Yarmouth following a spate of vandalism. Cars, houses and even schools have been targeted by vandals in recent weeks with police suspecting some of the damage is being caused by ball bearings fired from a BB gun or a catapult.

Cars, houses and even schools have been targeted by vandals in recent weeks with police suspecting some of the damage is being caused by ball bearings fired from a BB gun or a catapult.
Additional uniform and plain clothes patrols with the use of mobile CCTV have been introduced in a bit to combat the rise in criminal damage offences.
And officers from the local safe neighbourhood team are urging people to contact them immediately if they suspect people causing damage. They have also stressed that commercial or private premises should check their CCTV systems are working efficiently, which could be vital as evidence.
