A major surface water clearance pipe has fractured under Bracon Road in Belton causing a dangerous dip to appear in the road surface.
It was reported to Norfolk County Council on Monday afternoon by the chairman of the parish council, having originally been spotted by a resident over the weekend.
Highways department inspections on Monday through to this morning (Wednesday) has resulted in a total road closure being put in place from about noon today (August 17) for approximately 14 days.
Works involved will be major excavations and pipe replacement, which will affect the section of Bracon Road from Moorland Way to Selwyn Drive. This means all traffic in the village will have to use Station Road North and South to get from one side to the other.
There will be no buses serving part of Bracon Road, all Station Road South and part of Station Road North for the duration of the work. Services will use Waveney Drive, part of Station Road North, part of Bracon Road and back along New Road to cover that part of the village only.
