Plans have been put in place to demolish one bungalow in Ormesby, to make way for five new ones.

Applicants, Commercial Property, from London, have submitted the proposals to build the five new bungalows on Green Acres, Meadowcroft, Yarmouth Road in Ormesby.

It is located close to the Pointers East development on the fringes of Caister and Ormesby – where 189 homes are to be built.

The applicant’s design and access statement stated that the five new chalet bungalows would be put up for sale on the open market and the layout would provide ample private gardens and amenity space.

It said: “The proposed development will provide much needed housing that will blend in well with the surrounding area and neighbouring properties.”

Access to the site will be via the existing private driveway and access into the development will be through automatic gates operated by either vehicle sensors or a code keypad to ensure security for the residents.

In a consultation response to the application, Renee Barclay, of Yarmouth Road, Ormesby, said: “I object to five chalet bungalows which borders my property. The trees and wildlife should be protected and there is inadequate vehicular access – only a small private shared driveway.

“I am also concerned about services such as drainage, and water supply.”

Ormesby Parish Council chairman Geoff Freeman, said that their planning group is looking into the application, which was submitted this week, and submit their comments on Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s website.

Elsewhere across the borough there have been a number of housing applications submitted.

In Martham, Nigel Dyball has put in an application to build three houses with garages at The Green.

In Winterton, Brian Newson Developments Limited have put in an application to build four detached bungalows with garages on Low Road.

In Great Yarmouth, a plan has been submitted to build two homes on the former Southern Hotel car park on Albert Road.
