TOP class new facilities will be providing a 21st century educational experience for children at a Great Yarmouth School.

Work on the around £1.9m transformation of Cobholm Primary School is expected to begin later this year. Once completed it will provide a new learning centre, classrooms, hall, kitchen and toilet facilities.

The existing school buildings, which date from the start of last century, will also be refurbished.

Headteacher Julie Risby is looking forward to the vision for the school, which changed from first to primary status last September, becoming a reality.

“The school will look wonderful and be a great environment for the children to learn in when this is finished,” she said. “Our pupils are very excited. They visited a new school to get an idea of what it will look like here.

“The whole learning environment will be superb and will have our ICT facilities updated and a library for the first time.

“It will bring the school into a new era and I hope the parents and members of the community will come and have a look at the plans when they go on display next week.”

Once the expansion is completed the school will have room for up to 210 pupils from five to 11.

The plans will go on display at the school in Mill Road next Wednesday from 2.45pm to 7pm.
