A trio of local lifeboat coxswains have sailed into the history books - by being photographed together for the first time.

Steve Bartrum, coxswain of Gorleston and Great Yarmouth RNLI, Adam Rossiter, coxswain of Hemsby Inshore Lifeboat, and Paul Williams, Coxswain of Caister Independent Lifeboat, were snapped together at a Communiy Heroes event, hosted by Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

All three were there at the invitation of Great Yarmouth MP Tony Wright who wanted to recognise their voluntary work and commitment to duty, risking their lives to be on service and available every day of the year.

He said: “It was an honour to accompany Steve, Adam and Paul to this event at Number 10. It is right that we have this opportunity to recognise their hard work, dedication and courage. These three men are a representation of a number of volunteer crew members who risk their lives to save others, and are people that Great Yarmouth can draw inspiration from and be rightly proud of.”
