Police could soon be patrolling the scenic sandy beach at Gorleston from a base in a temporary timber cabin during the hectic summer season.
Norfolk Constabulary has applied to set up the structure at the Lower Esplanade by Beach Road.
If approved officers will use the 12m sq timber cabin to make sure trippers have a safe and crime free day at the beach.
In previous summers Gorleston police have set up a temporary station in a former life guard hut and shelter on Lower Parade which is owned by Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
The submission for the temporary police station was sent in by Norfolk Constabulary's headquarters at Wymondham which described it as a 'timber cabin for use during the summer months'.
A consultation has been launched on the police plans and the submission will be discussed or approved by delegated powers at a later date by the council's development control committee.
In February the development control committee rejected a scheme to turn the former life guard hut into a seaside food and drinks stall.
