Police to conduct Great Yarmouth street briefing after drug den is closed

Great Yarmouth Police will be holding a street briefing after a flat in the town was shut down due to illegal drug activity.

In a tweet, the police said they would be conducting the briefing in the vicinity of 76 Ordnance Road.

The briefing will take place at 1pm on Monday, July 9.

The statement reads: “Please feel free to come along to meet the team and share any concerns you and your families may have.”

The property, managed by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, has been a hotbed for drug use and anti-social behaviour for several months say the council and police.

The council was successful in obtaining a closure order from the town’s magistrates court, after securing evidence of drugs misuse and other anti-social behaviour in the flat.

A notice order pinned to the door of the sealed of flat says: “A person has engaged (or if the order is not made) is likely to engage in disorderly, offensive criminal behaviour on the premises.

“The use of the premises has been associated with the occurrence of disorder or serious nuisance to members of the public.”

The order was granted for a period of three months making it a criminal offence for anybody to be inside the property.
