A young woman was sexually assaulted in Yarmouth in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A young woman was sexually assaulted in Yarmouth in the early hours of Saturday morning.

It is believed that the young woman was walking down Albion Road at about 4.45am when she was approached by a man who started talking to her.

He then pushed her into an alleyway and sexually assaulted her.

Detectives are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry and the victim is currently being cared for by her friends.

Officers are keen to speak with a man who was seen in the area at the time, he is described as white, wearing a white t-shirt and black trousers.

Investigating officer Det Chief Insp Jes Fry said: “We are at the early stages of the investigation and in the process of establishing exactly what happened.

“The victim has suffered a traumatic experience and is being questioned by specially trained officers.

“Offences such as this are extremely rare and we are working with colleagues to help reassure the local community. I would ask anyone living or working in the area who saw anyone acting suspiciously or heard anything to contact police as soon as possible.”
