Police are toasting the success of an initiative that has meant villagers can take it as read that crimes are being dealt with.
For the past three years, 'whodunnits' have been not the only police presence on the Norfolk County Council library bus travelling on route G17 from Reedham, through Halvergate to Upton, near Great Yarmouth.
Every six weeks, Acle-based PCSO Jon Morgan-Jones has joined the driver on board to bring a welcome police presence to the villages.
He said the service was well used by elderly people, and travelling on the bus was a good way of reaching out to a sector of the community that was often difficult to reach and most vulnerable to crime.
“Those who use the library service have the opportunity to speak to an officer about anything concerning them and report crime.
“When I am not on board, residents ask when the next opportunity is to speak to me. They have really warmed to the police presence,” he said.
