PARK responsibly in King Street, Great Yarmouth is the message from South Yarmouth Safer Neighbourhood Team officers.

The team has been called to King Street on several occasions recently when buses, fire engines and service vehicles have had considerable difficulty in getting past vehicles parked on both sides of the road.

Permitted parking is allowed on some stretches of the west side of King Street between Yarmouth Way and Regent Road. On the east side parking is restricted to certain types of vehicles that considerably reduces the width of the road for other vehicles.

Officers are urging those who park on both sides to park responsibly and assess whether it is safe to do so and unlikely to inconvenience other road users.

Police say they should remember to park in this stretch of the road with their near or offside wheels as close as possible to the kerb ensuring maximum space for other vehicles using the road.

Police have also warned that drivers causing an unnecessary obstruction may be issued with a fixed penalty ticket.
