OFFICERS from a local policing team will be getting their hands dirty as they help residents to improve the local area.
Members of the Cobholm and Southtown Safer Neighbourhood Team will take part in a community planting day at Manor Close Community Centre in Gorleston.
Residents from the day services centre on Suffolk Road will join forces with members of a local youth club to create a new garden on Thursday. Funds from the Great Yarmouth Safer Communities Delivery Partnership were given to the project by the Neighbourhood Management Board for Cobholm, Southtown and Halfway House.
The board is made up of local residents, working in partnership with the police and local council to address neighbourhood issues and to improve the area.
Neighbourhood development officer for the programme, Erika Chalkley, said “This is a great example of how local priorities can be addressed by local people working together with different agencies.
“We are actively working to involve as many local people as possible in the development of this and other projects in the Halfway House area, and we are always keen to hear of new ideas, suggestions and priorities from residents.”
