The warning follows recent vehicle break-ins where crooks have got away with property after the cars were left insecure.

Sgt Lewis Craske said: “Many of us spend a lot of our hard earned money on our homes and vehicles and take a great deal of pride in those things. It is therefore only right that we take steps to protect our property from those opportunist thieves that prey on our belongings.

“We all need a reminder sometimes to make sure our vehicles are secure and we should always remove items from plain view and ensure that windows and doors are locked at all times, whether they are on a driveway or parked elsewhere. It is up to all of us, not to make life easy for criminals and do all we can to prevent people from becoming victims of these crimes.”
